Wishing Well

about

Cooney Thatcher’s “Wishing Well” balances esoteric references to Greek and Norse mythology with tuneful and entrancing atmospherics. Thatcher sings about the neverending cycle of change.

The moment after you feel freedom, you will begin to perceive the next boundary holding you in. “I left my cage; my cage just grew,” he sings delicately over soft guitar and bowed upright bass.

The wishing well connects us to the unknown, the unseen, the subconscious. It is our chance to transcend the false hope of singular perfection, and to embrace the endless perfection of the ever changing universe in and around ourselves!

lyrics

I had a dream at quarter to nine
And when I woke, I lost track of time
I saw the ghost of heaven in hell
followed Dionysus into the well

I know, or once, I knew
But things have changed, they always do
I left my cage, my cage just grew

The other side of living a lie
is holding truth and living to die
another way to look at a crow
is closing your eyes and letting it go

A living ghost will fill your shell
You are the host, the wishing well
